Three Week

Sessions

Toyon Bay Ages 12–17

Choose Your Own Adventure at Toyon Bay

Catalina Sea Camp's three-week sessions are designed for campers 12-17 with more opportunities for campers to build their schedule based on their individual interests.  Mirroring a university-style experience, campers will provide their activity preferences prior to camp and will attend those activities multiple times during their camp session to build their skills.  Our three-week programming allows for kids to immerse themselves in the camp experience and create deep, meaningful camp friendships.

SEE YOU NEXT SUMMER!

Toyon Bay waterfront.

Our Three-Week Location

Located in a private cove that was originally constructed as a boys’ boarding school, the Toyon Bay facility is nestled on the leeward side of Catalina Island, about 2.5 miles from the town of Avalon. Marine science labs, waterfront dive deck, and dorm-style housing make Toyon Bay a picturesque summer camp setting!

Every time I set foot on the Toyon Bay Pier, I feel like I have just arrived home after years away, even though in truth it hasn’t been long at all. The people at CIMI are truly the most wonderful, caring people I have ever met, and you just can’t replicate an atmosphere like that. I start counting down the days to the next summer the day I arrive on the mainland and don’t stop until I’m on that pier again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there laundry facilities available?

We have campers’ laundry professionally cleaned by a laundry service in the town of Avalon twice during the 3-week camp session. However, an individual camper’s laundry can be done at the laundry facilities in camp in case of emergency.

My camper will be flying in from out of state. How will they get to Sea Camp?

Catalina Sea Camp does offer airport transportation for summer. We offer a pick-up and drop-off service for campers. There is a $50.00 charge each way for this service.  All flight arrangements are to be made only to the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). A Catalina Sea Camp staff member will meet them at the gate and escort them to the Long Beach Boat Terminal by bus.

Arrival Information:

All flight arrivals must be made to LAX Airport between 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM on the first day of camp. Flights outside of this time frame will result in additional fees and must be approved by the director.

Departure Information:

All flight departures must be made from LAX Airport between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM on the last day of camp. Flights outside of this time frame will result in additional fees and must be approved by the director.

Approximately 40% of our campers fly in each summer.

How can I communicate with my camper during the session?

Camp is a unique experience for your camper to gain some independence and be able to fully immerse in the camp experience.

Camper Emails (also known as Bunk Notes) can be sent and viewed via the Campanion App (recommended) or CampInTouch Account. CampStamps are used to pay for the emails you send to your campers. Catalina Sea Camp provides 5 CampStamps for per parent/per camper/per week. You are welcome to purchase more CampStamps through your account. Each email requires one CampStamp per recipient. CampStamps rollover from previous seasons.

Telephone calls to or from the campers are not allowed due to their busy schedules and our camp’s belief in camper independence. If you have any concerns about your child, our staff is available to help you. Please call camp between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm at (310) 510-1890. Calls after 5:00 pm or on the weekends may be answered by a camp administrator or an answering machine.

Due to the busy schedule and safety of our campers, we do not allow any in-session visits or tours.
