Do you love the ocean? Want to know more about the amazing creatures that you are seeing in your snorkeling or diving classes? Considering Marine Science as a possible future career? Then come join the fun in our Marine Science classes!
By utilizing the amazing labs and aquariums that are maintained on site at Toyon Bay, Catalina Sea Campers have the opportunity to not only learn about all the fascinating organisms on display, but they get the chance to work with our staff and learn what it takes to maintain our impressive live animal exhibits and laboratory space. The land and sea environments of Catalina become our playground during our Exploring Classes ⎯ you can even learn to maintain and operate our ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) and go home with underwater video to show your friends and family.
Catalina Sea Camp prides itself on its roots/pedigree and close ties with the Catalina Island Marine Institute program that operates at Toyon Bay during the school year. Some of our recent Marine Science offerings during Sea Camp have included: Introduction to Marine Biology, Invertebrates and Ichthyology, Aquarium Design and Maintenance, Aquariums: Behind the Scenes, Hot Topics in Marine Conservation, ROVing the Ocean, Catalina Exploring, Catalina Adventure Exploring and The Catalina Green Team.
