Cabin Counselor
Cabin counselors are responsible for the social and emotional experience of their group of campers. Cabin counselors will live and sleep in the dorms, spend cabin time with the campers, supervise camper living habits, and guide the campers in their selection of activities. At mealtimes, counselors will sit at each table with 5-10 children. Counselors are involved in those activities where their teaching skills can be best utilized. On occasion, though, counselors may be asked to “assist” in activities in which they are not particularly experienced. However, they are not expected to be the Lead, but they assist and help with supervision. Cabin counselors are not required to have any background or education in marine science; however, an interest is encouraged.

Science & Adventure Instructor
The Science & Adventure Instructors at Catalina Sea Camp are responsible for providing summer camp programs for children ages 8-17. This primarily includes instruction of camp activities, including marine science labs, archery, high ropes, kayaking, snorkeling, and tubing, as well as secondary duties as assigned. All activities are conducted according to Catalina Sea Camp and ACA-approved protocols to ensure the delivery of a high-quality program.

Sailing Instructor
Sailing Instructors at Toyon Bay are responsible for providing quality instruction and leadership in the sailing program at Catalina Sea Camp. This entails providing the proper curriculum, ensuring all programs are conducted in accordance with set policies, and developing educational and instructional programs to ensure the high standards of the program.

Dive Staff
Dive Staff is comprised of Dive Instructors and Divemasters. They are required to be knowledgeable of all dive requirements per Catalina Sea Camp and NAUI. This involves developing, organizing, and teaching (or assisting with teaching) scuba diving courses as assigned. All duties are performed in accordance with Catalina Sea Camp structure/standards. Dive Staff are responsible for all aspects (as assigned and within an individual’s scope) of scuba diving and freediving for Catalina Sea Camp.

Office Assistant
The Office Assistant position is responsible for supporting the Camp Director and team with various tasks for the summer program. The office assistant will be the camp store manager, organize session paperwork, distribute and collect bunk notes, answer phones, and pick up mail from town. The office assistant will be a part of the counseling team, but they will not have an assigned group of campers each week. However, they may be called upon to cover groups as needed.

Photographer
Our camp photographers have one of the most important jobs at camp. They are responsible for capturing high quality pictures of all special memories and moments of camp from class activities to evening events. Our photographers will be required to filter, organize, edit, and upload all pictures to the Campanion App for parents to view. The photo position will be a part of the counseling team, but they will not have an assigned group of campers each week. However, they may be called upon to cover groups as needed.

Audio Visual
Our Audio Visual position is responsible for all of the tech for evening events and special classes. They will set up and tear down all AV equipment in camp. The AV position will also be a part of the counseling team however they will not have a group of campers each week but may be called upon to cover groups as needed.

Social Media
The Social Media position is responsible for overseeing the camp’s social media accounts during the summer. They will create fun videos and photo content that will be posted throughout the week and extra content for during the year. The social media position will be a part of the counseling team, but they will not have an assigned group of campers each week. However, they may be called upon to cover groups as needed.

Health Office Manager
The Health Office Manager is responsible for organizing the health office, taking inventory, and ordering supplies. Prior to camp, they will review camper medical forms and prepare for any medical concerns. During camp, the health office manager works with the health team on collecting and dispersing medication, oversees camper health checks each session, and is on-call for emergencies.

Leadership Team
Our leadership team consists of 5-8 staff that schedule, develop and coordinate program activities and hire, supervise, and support our staff. These roles are usually filled by returning staff members. To learn more, please contact us at 909-625-6194.
